The Glass Shop in Greenfield Village is seeking a part-time Glassblower. This position assists glass artists in production of glass products for sale. Contributes to the effective operation of the Glass Shop as part of Greenfield Village daily programming and a production facility. Reports to Shop Supervisor and Head of Exhibitions and Performances.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates glassblowing techniques to the public and provides hospitality and service to all visitors.
  • Produces glass products for sale
  • Delivers mission-based presentations to the public as defined by the Shop Supervisor and Head of Exhibitions and Performances
  • Works with Shop Supervisor to ensure the physical presentation, maintenance, and repair of the building, equipment, and tools. Complies with OSHA and SDS standards
  • Facilitates the fulfillment of orders for stores, catalog, historic sites, awards, and special orders
  • Assists with the development of new products as assigned
  • Ensures clear communication and teamwork, and fosters a positive work environment
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment and maintains an organized workspace
  • Responsible for development of creative work which includes, but is not limited to, publications in any medium, product and program development and design, and all related collateral materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Requires BFA in Glassblowing or equivalent production shop experience.
  • Coursework or research experience in American technological history or the history of glassblowing is desirable.
  • Weekday, weekend, evening, and holiday availability required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and public presentation abilities
  • Ability to manage and work in a team-based environment
  • Customer service and conflict resolution skills desirable

This role requires extensive standing, and at times lifting up to 50lbs. The work environment may expose you to intense heat.
